Privacy policy

This policy covers bestseoagency.ca, operated by Best SEO Agency ("we", "us"). We handle personal information under Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and, where they apply, provincial privacy laws including Quebec's Law 25.

What we collect

Only two things:

1. What you send us in the audit request form

• Your name and business name
• Your email address, and your phone number if you choose to give one
• Your website address
• Your province and industry
• Whatever you write in the message box
• The date and time you submitted, and the fact that you ticked the consent box

Every one of these is given voluntarily by you. We do not buy contact lists, and we do not collect information about you from anywhere else.

2. Anonymous usage statistics

We use Google Analytics 4 and Ahrefs Web Analytics to see which pages get read and where visitors arrive from. These record things like the pages you view, roughly which region you're in, and what kind of device you're using. We do not use them to identify you personally, and we have never linked analytics data to a form submission.

Why we collect it

To reply to you. That's the whole purpose. If you ask for an audit, we use your details to answer your question, agree on what work you need, send an invoice, and deliver the work. We may email you afterwards about your project.

We will only send you marketing email if you ticked the consent box, as required by Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL). Every such email has an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing takes effect immediately.

Who else sees it

We do not sell your information. We never have and we won't. It is shared only with the services we need to run the business:

• Cloudflare — hosts this website
• Resend — relays outgoing email sent from hello@bestseoagency.ca, so we can reply to you from our own domain instead of a personal address
• Google Analytics and Ahrefs — anonymous usage statistics only
• Our own email and invoicing tools, so we can reply to you and bill for agreed work

Some of these providers process data on servers outside Canada, including in the United States. That means the data may be subject to the laws of that country. If this is a problem for your business, tell us and we'll take your enquiry by phone or post instead.

How long we keep it

Enquiries that don't become clients are deleted within 24 months. Client records are kept for seven years after the work ends, because Canadian tax rules require us to retain business records for that long. Analytics data expires automatically after 14 months.

Your rights

You can ask us to:

• Tell you exactly what we hold about you
• Correct anything that's wrong
• Delete it, unless we're legally required to keep it
• Stop emailing you
• Send you a copy of what you gave us

Email hello@bestseoagency.ca and we'll action it within 30 days, as PIPEDA requires. There's no charge and you don't need to give a reason.

If you aren't satisfied with our response, you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada at priv.gc.ca, or to your provincial privacy regulator.

Cookies and tracking

This site sets cookies for Google Analytics and Ahrefs Web Analytics. Nothing on this site requires cookies to work — if you block them, every page still functions normally.

You can refuse analytics cookies using the banner shown on your first visit, and change your mind at any time using the button below. We honour browser "Do Not Track" and Global Privacy Control signals by not loading analytics at all.

Security

The site is served over HTTPS only. Form submissions are encrypted in transit. Access to enquiry data is limited to the people who need it to reply to you. No system is perfectly secure, but if a breach ever created a real risk of significant harm to you, we would notify you and the Privacy Commissioner as the law requires.

Children

This is a service for businesses. We don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.

Changes

If we change this policy we'll update the date at the top. Material changes affecting how we use information you've already given us will be emailed to you.
